I discovered Amma in February 2016. I had never heard of her before coming to India, but somehow it seemed like the closer I got to her ashram, the more I heard about her and the amazing things she does to people. So after 3 weeks spent in the town of Fort Kochi, recovering from a general anaesthetic operation, I decided to go and see what it was all about.

The ashram is an enormous pink complexe, located on an island between the Arabian sea and the famous backwaters of Kerala. And as in all big public places, Mata Amritanandamayi Math (the ashram's full name) had rules. One of them being the strict forbidding of taking any photographs within the premises. I took the ones below, standing on the beach, looking away from the ashram.
